About BIIAB and its Qualifications
BIIAB, the wholly-owned awarding body of BII, is accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). It has a large portfolio of qualifications dedicated to the licensed retail sector.

BIIAB's qualifications are delivered through a national network of over 550 approved centres, across 5000 locations in the UK. BIIAB has processed over 990,000 examinations since 1994.
BIIAB's qualification development processes ensure that the needs and concerns of the industry are met and close liaison with the police, local authorities and the government, enable a consensus approach. With national recognition through the Magistrates’ Association, the Justices’ Clerks’ Society and the Local Government Association, BIIAB qualifications are part of the licensing process across the country.

Organisation of BIIAB
BIIAB is divided into four main sections:

Qualifications works closely with the industry to develop new qualifications and update existing ones so that they meet the needs of the licensed retail sector.

Examinations is responsible for the ordering of question papers, processing of results and distribution of certificates.
- Quality Assurance is responsible for the approval and monitoring of approved centres and conducting assessment inspections. It also handles complaints from centres; enquiries on results; appeals; malpractice; and issues relating to candidates with particular assessment requirements.
- Assessments is responsible for the production of question papers and the monitoring of examination results. It works closely with Quality Assurance when dealing with queries and complaints from centres relating to examinations.
