What is the BIIAB AALP(SR))?
The BIIAB AALP(SR) has been developed in conjunction with Best Bar None (BBN), with the aim of providing a universal hallmark of predetermined quality of the assessment approach to recognised award schemes across the country.
What does the qualification cover?
The BIIAB AALP(SR) covers three key subject areas:
Principles of Assessment

Arranging, planning and undertaking assessments.

Making assessment decisions and providing feedback.

Quality assurance of assessments.
Legislative Requirements of Licensed Premises
- Introduction to the legislative requirements of operating licensed premises.
- The Licensing Objectives.
Assessing Recognised Award Schemes
- The role of recognised award schemes.
- The role of evidence. Basic communication.
Who is the BIIAB AALP(SR) for?
The BIIAB AALP(SR) is designed for prospective recognised award scheme assessors for example from:
- Police forces.
- Local authorities.
- Trading standards offices.
- The fire service.
As well as BIIAB nominated tutors; CDRP/DAAT team members and other A1 qualified independent representatives.
How is the learning assessed?
The BIIAB AALP(SR) is assessed by two multiple-choice question examinations.
What support material is available?
The BIIAB AALP(SR) is supported by an easy-to-follow handbook containing information on all three subject areas. The handbook is available from the approved centre or from BIIAB by visiting www.biiab.org/handbooks or calling 01276 684449.
What are the key benefits of the BIIAB AALP(SR)?
The BIIAB AALP(SR) sets a national standard for the assessment of all recognised award schemes and will enable anyone with industry experience and/or an A1 assessor qualification, to become proficient in the assessment of such schemes.
Where is the training available?
The BIIAB AALP(SR) is delivered by BIIAB approved training centres, through tutors who themselves hold an A1 or Level 3 teaching/tutoring qualification. How long will it take, and how much will it cost?
The qualification has been designed to be delivered over two days.
Approved centres set their own costs for training, so please confirm the course costs with your chosen training provider.
