What is the BIIAB NCCSIM?
The BIIAB NCCSIM has been developed in conjunction with Brewing, Food & Beverage Industry Suppliers Association (BFBi)* to help satisfy the current demand for qualifications at this level for cellar service technicians. The BIIAB NCCSIM has been developed to become the recognised quality standard in this specialist field, particularly with regard to gas installation.    

What does the qualification cover?
The BIIAB NCCSIM covers five subject areas, including:

Unit 1 – Health and Safety and Survey of the Cellar.
Unit 2 – Properties of Beer and Beer Dispense Equipment.
Unit 3 – Cellar Service Equipment.
Unit 4 – Service Installation.
Unit 5 – Dispense Pressure Systems.

The BIIAB NCCSIM is designed for anyone working, or planning to work, as a cellar technician, within:

What are the key benefits if the BIIAB NCCSIM?
The BIIAB NCCSIM sets a national standard for all cellar technicians. Successful candidates receive an individual certificate for each unit passed and an over-arching BIIAB NCCSIM certificate upon completion of all five units.

Where is the training available?
The BIIAB NCCSIM is delivered by BIIAB approved training centres that have access to the specified equipment necessary to deliver such a qualification effectively (i.e. a cellar and specialised equipment). How long will it take, and how much will it cost?
The qualification has been designed to be delivered in five, one day modules. While it is intended that each unit be delivered in a maximum of one day, candidates would expect to gain practical experience as well as pass the exam. This may be subject to change as the qualification is developed.

Approved centres set their own costs for training, so please confirm the course costs with your chosen training provider.

How is the learning assessed?
Each unit of the BIIAB NCCSIM is assessed by a 20 or 25 multiple-choice question examination.
