What is the BIIAB NCLP(G) and who is it for?
The BIIAB NCLP(G) has been developed to support and standardise the quality and approach of Licensing Practitioners working with the Gambling Act 2005.
The qualification will enable Licensing Enforcement Officers with industry and licensing experience, working within Local Authorities to become proficient on the enforcement of the Gambling Act 2005.

What does the qualification cover?
The BIIAB NCLP(G) gives candidates a broad appreciation of:

Gambling, the licensing objectives, licensing authority duties and the Gambling Commission’s Guidance under the Gambling Act 2005
as well as a more in-depth understanding of the law in relation to:
- personal licenses
- premises licenses
- operating licenses
How long will it take and how much will it cost?
The training is usually delivered within one day. Training costs are set by the individual approved centre, so please confirm training and exam costs with your chosen training centre.
Where is the training available and how is the learning assessed?
Training for the BIIAB NCLP(G) is offered by BIIAB approved training centres, across the UK. The learning is assessed via a multiple choice examination consisting of 40 questions – there is no compulsory or mandatory section to this exam.
What support material is available?
The qualification is supported by a handbook, which is written in an easy-to-follow format and covers all the areas of information needed to pass the exam, plus other useful reference information.
What is BIIAB and what other qualifications are available?
BIIAB is the awarding body of BII, which is the professional body for the licensed retail industry. BIIAB specialises in developing and awarding qualifications to support people at all levels of the industry. This includes qualifications for everyone from bar and retail staff through to skilled business managers, as well as licensing practitioners.
BIIAB has over 600 approved centres, across 6000 venues within the UK.
