The BIIAB PBQ is intended to help licensed retailers develop their more senior staff, and is designed to develop skills to respond to a rapidly changing and competitive market environment.
The BIIAB PBQ is designed for barpersons working in licensed premises in England and Wales.
The qualification comprises two units:
- the BIIAB Level 1 ARAR, and
- the BIIAB Customer and Drinks Service unit.
In order to achieve the qualification candidates must successfully complete both units. Information about each unit is given under their separate titles shown in the qualifications menu.
What are the benefits of obtaining this qualification?
A certificate for the PBQ is awarded by BIIAB for candidates who have successfully passed both units.
How long is the training course, where can I take it, and how much will it cost?
Both the BIIAB Level 1 ARAR and the BIIAB Customer and Drinks Service unit have been designed to be delivered in one day.
Both units are offered by a number of BIIAB approved centres (with the BIIAB Level 1 ARAR also being available to candidates as on-site training, concluded with a closely monitored environment, telephone based, examination). Course fees are set by each BIIAB approved centre. Self-study workbooks are available from BIIAB for both units, which contain all the information candidates need for the examination. The workbooks may also be used to support training.
