Award Scheme assessors flock to gain recognised qualification

The level of professionalism of assessors of awards schemes, such as Best Bar None (BBN), has increased since the launch of the BIIAB Level 2 Award in Assessment of Licensed Premises (Social Responsibility) (AALP(SR)), with over 200 candidates sitting the qualification since October 2007.
BIIAB (AALP(SR)), developed in conjunction with Best Bar None, aims to provide a universal hallmark of the assessment approach taken by assessors of recognised award schemes for licensed premises across the country. The qualification is available now, through over 50 BIIAB approved centres across the UK.
Cathie Smith, Director of BIIAB, said, “ We have developed this qualification in response to the need to standardise the assessment of recognised award schemes and increase the professionalism. The take up of this qualification has been excellent and many future courses are already full.”
John McNamara, BBN Chief Executive, said, “It was felt, with the plans to expand Best Bar None, that it was time for assessors to be able to access a qualification which would give them the confidence and knowledge to be able to assess licensed premises in a professional and consistent manner, regardless of the scheme they have entereed.
