Motherwell College Delivers 5,000th BIIAB SCPLH

Motherwell College has successfully trained the 5000th person in Scotland to achieve the BIIAB Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (SCPLH).
Lisa Lai Sha Li received her SCPLH Certificate and free BII Associate Membership from Janet Hood, Head of BII Scotland, at the College on 11 June 2008. Motherwell College Principal and CE Hugh Logan was also presented with a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.
Since the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 was introduced, anyone wanting to authorise the sale of alcohol in Scotland must be successful in applying to their local Licensing Board for a personal licence. To support their application, they must prove they have achieved an accredited qualification such as the BIIAB SCPLH.
Lisa, who works at Li’s Restaurant in Airdrie said: “I was delighted to receive the award and my Certificate. This is all part of my career development and will allow me to help even more in my family’s business.”
Head of BII Scotland Janet Hood added: “It’s a great pleasure to mark this fantastic and significant milestone with a presentation to Lisa and I wish her a long and successful career in licensed retail.
“This period of transition into the new licensing regime is of major importance, as anyone wishing to become a premises manager must have completed their SCPLH and applied to the appropriate licensing board by 28th Feb 2009 to meet the appropriate deadlines. BII is here to support the trade at all times with training and advice.”
