Responsible Drinks Retailing Awards - Entry Deadline Extended For BII Members

19-Aug-2008

The Responsible Drinks Retailing (RDR) initiative is run by the Morning Advertiser and Off Licence News and aims to celebrate the enormous strides taken by the on and off trade to ensure alcohol is retailed responsibly.

BII has put its weight behind this worthwhile campaign, which runs for the next two months and culminates in a hard-hitting conference and awards ceremony in London on Tuesday 11th November.

This year's conference will address how to encourage personal responsibility with tips on how to empower and educate oneself with the information required to retail responsibly, how we communicate this to staff and consumers and what lessons can we learn from the Scottish experience. Headlining will be Gerry Sutcliffe, Minister for Sport, Gambling and Licensing, who will also present the awards.

Participating in the RDR Awards, which recognise innovation and best practice in responsible drinks retailing throughout the industry, offers considerable benefits. They provide a platform for you to promote your business, reward your team and highlight your achievements. They also offer the benefit of extensive coverage within the Morning Advertiser, Off Licence News and local media.

BII is sponsoring the Tenant/Lessee/Free House category of the awards and we’re looking for licensees who have gone beyond the call of duty in their responsible retailing efforts. Winners of the RDR awards will come from all areas of the trade and will demonstrate to government and the public that our industry is making a huge contribution towards changing the way alcohol is sometimes abused in the UK.

Want to enter? The MA has allowed a special deadline extension for BII members so you have until 12th September to submit your entry. For more information visit www.responsibledrinksretailing.co.uk
