End-Point Assessment (EPA)

BIIAB is an End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) for a number of Standards.

Once the Apprentice has completed the training of the skills, knowledge and behaviour as defined in the respective Standard and their Employer 'signs them off for passing through the Gateway', the Apprentice must then undertake the EPA.

The Apprentice must 'pass' the EPA in order to gain their Apprenticeship.

The EPA is different for each Standard and will combine a number of assessment methods, which have been decided by the Employer Groups who designed the Standards.

Our aim is to offer EPAs for all the sectors where we currently offer qualifications. BIIAB are currently approved on the Register of End-Point Assessment Organisations (RoEPAO) to deliver EPAs for the following Standards:

If you require BIIAB to conduct the End-Point Assessment for your Apprentices, we require you to complete and return our Advanced Notification form 3 months prior to Gateway. If you do not return the Advanced Notification form 3 months before Gateway readiness, then there is no guarantee that we will be able to conduct the EPA. If BIIAB have agreed to carry out the End-Point Assessment for your Apprentices following on from having received the Advanced Notification form, please click here to view the latest BIIAB EPA Agreement document, which you will be expected to agree to when completing the declarations on the Gateway form for each Apprentice.

If BIIAB have agreed to carry out the End-Point Assessment for your Apprentices and you have made a registration and the apprentice is ready to pass through The Gateway, please carefully read The Gateway Guidance and complete:

  • for level 2 apprentices this Gateway form
  • for level 3 apprentices this Gateway form 

This form must be sent to the BIIAB End Point Assessments department EPA@biiab.org at least 5 working days before the planned planning meeting date.
