BIIAB Award in Isle of Man Licensing Law


The qualification is aimed at those who intend to apply for an on-licence from the Court in the Isle of Man under the Licensing Act 1995. The qualification is supported by the police for this qualification and by the Isle of Man Department of Home Affairs.

The BIIAB Award in Isle of Man Licensing Law covers the following key areas:

  • The types of alcohol licence available in the Isle of Man, what they grant and the conditions attached to them for the provision of music and dancing

  • The law with regard to the protection of children on licensed premises

  • The duties and rights of the premises licence holder and responsible persons and relevant offences

  • The law with regards to police rights of entry and permission to remain on licensed premises and the duty of the licence holder to produce a licence

  • The nature of alcohol and how it affects the body

  • The law and duties of the licence holders with regard to fire prevention and safety and the employment of security staff
