External Quality Assurance monitoring Visit for Apprenticeship Standards

Last month colleagues here at BIIAB received their initial monitoring visit from People 1st, the External Quality Assurance (EQA) organisation for the hospitality, retail, aviation and travel apprenticeship standards and End Point Assessments.

People 1st are the first of several EQA organisations who are set to visit BIIAB in the coming months and it was a very useful visit for both parties. It provided BIIAB development staff with an opportunity to showcase their End Point Assessment processes and policies, including those in place for ensuring the development and delivery of high quality, fit for purpose End Point Assessments. With two apprentices already having completed Hospitality Team Member End Point Assessments with BIIAB, this initial visit also explored the steps taken by BIIAB independent assessors to assess the competence, knowledge and behaviours of the apprentices in line with the requirements of the standard and associated assessment plan.

The visit was also beneficial to BIIAB as ongoing communication with EQA organisations is vital in ensuring that, as an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO), we provide the best quality service in line with the expectations and requirements of those organisations who EQA our services and assessments. After taking time to go through the whole process from gateway to completion, BIIAB are delighted to report that no issues or recommendations were recorded and that feedback from People 1st, not just from this visit but also from the ongoing monitoring of BIIAB assessment tools, has been extremely positive.
